Welcome to our Dining Areas

When entertaining guests for dinner in a physical home you establish a guest list and the menu and then you set about making it work. You have to work within the confines of the physical space in your home. As necessary you put boards in the table and gather up extra chairs. In a virtual home you have more than one dining area to choose from and if the occasion calls for it you can simply create a new room to suit the occasion. Presently we have five dining rooms from which to choose when hosting guests for a meal. We have given each room a distinguishing name. Let us introduce you to them.

The Family Dining Room

Every home needs a Family Dining Room for those ordinary times when it is just yourselves or perhaps one or two close family friends. Here is our Family Dining Room.

The Morning Room

This room is sleek, uncluttered and very bright and airey. Jan often entertains other women for lunch in this room and it is spacious enough that her Book Club can all be accomodated around the table for their monthly meetings.

The Food and Fellowship Room

This room is very comfortable room in which to share an informal meal with old friends. It acquired the name Food and Fellowship Room because it is so comfy that after a meal we often just push our chairs back a bit and continue our conversation at the table rather than moving into another sitting area.

The Private Dining Room

Sometimes you need a space to host a meal that is just a little more formal. This room fills the bill very nicely. It is in a private area of the house. It is formal without feeling too severe.

The Auchmar Room

When other dining areas are too small or just not up to the occasion there is always the Auhmar Room. It is so named because of its superficial resemblance to a room in Buchanan's Auchmar estate in Hamilton. I welcome the occasions when we can pull out all the stops and use the Auchmar Room.

One of our chief reasons for creating our new virtual home was that we desired to do more entertaining and these spaces truly make that possible.
